Stephanie & Jason | The Talbot Inn Ripley

Weddings are officially back and what a season we have had! It may have been a hot minute since I last shared a journal entry, but I’m coming back with a special one - Stephanie and Jason.

Stephanie and I met nearly 20 years ago, we both shared a love of all things hair and had a keen eye for fashion. We quickly became best friends and looked forward to our weekly trips to River Island, hunting down the perfect outfit to hit the dance floor on a Saturday night! Little did we know back then that we would go on to work side by side in the wedding industry!

Stephanie and Jason

Stephanie and I have spent many nights getting glammed up for an evening of big fish, little fish, cardboard box!! However, truth be known, I hadn’t actually done her make-up before!?! So when she asked me to get her ready for her special day I suddenly felt the pressure! I asked her how she would like her make-up and she said, “Do what ever you want, I’ve seen all your work. I trust you.” - Again, no pressure!

I have been working in the wedding industry for eighteen years, in that time I must have worked on over 1,000 weddings. I don’t get those wedding nerves like I used to, I have seen a bridesmaid burn a hole in her dress, a cathedral length veil ripped right before the ceremony and the odd wardrobe malfunction. You quickly learn to become a problem solver and you step in to help in any way you can.

However it hits differently when it is your best friend getting married. Nerves definitely sunk in and my emotions ran high. Stephanie on the other hand was utterly calm and she did in fact trust me completely. It’s moments like these that make me truly grateful to work within the wedding industry. And after a year long postponement Stephanie and Jason were finally having their day, I couldn't have been more proud.

Stephanie glowed all day - not just because I used the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter! But because she was truly happy, surrounded by all the people she loved and this is why I love weddings. You are helping create a memory that will be cherished.

Thank you Steph for being the most amazing assistant and hair stylist helping me create beautiful wedding hair, but also thank you for trusting me to get you aisle ready. You really were the most beautiful bride.

Not only would I like to say a huge thank you to Will David Peters Media for capturing and allowing me to share those moments with you. (I think I can just about make it through now without crying!) I would also like to welcome you to the wedding industry! I know you are going to love it here as much as I do!

Thank you to Lauren Henson Photos for the beautiful images.
